Resident Engagement Strategy Consultation - Next Steps

Thank you to everyone who took part in the first phase of the Resident Engagement Strategy. Over 600 responses were received through our survey and all your feedback was collated, analysed and used to directly feed into the development of the strategy. You told us about your experiences and the problems you faced when engaging with housing services. You told us about what was important to you in terms of community projects and how you would like to be more involved. And you also told us that listening to your views and taking action as a result of your feedback was one of the main things you would like to see us improve on. We took all of that onboard and have produced a draft Resident Engagement Strategy that we feel addresses your concerns and feedback.

Now for the next phase we are holding a 12 week formal consultation and we need you to tell us if we have got the strategy right or have we missed anything important that matters to you?

We need your feedback by 4 September and if you leave us your name and contact details at the end of the survey you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 in Love2Shop vouchers that can be spent in many local and national shops.

After the consultation ends and taking on board any new feedback, the strategy will be approved by Cabinet later this year. Cabinet is the group of elected Councillors, who work directly with the Mayor to make most of the decisions on what the Council does.

Thank you to everyone who has participated in this survey. We will now analyse your feedback and produce a report setting out the key findings. We aim to post this on this website by the end of October 2021.

Our next task will to identify key themes and issues arising from this survey and from our wider engagement work, which has included focus groups with housing residents and staff, outreach to seldom heard housing residents, and major survey of all tenants and leaseholders in the borough, including residents in homes managed by tenant management organisations. This will help us identify what matters most to housing residents, and what needs to improve.

Through October / November 2021 we will also be running some in person and online sessions for housing residents and staff with the support of the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS). These sessions will help us to explore the key themes in more detail, identify the priorities to include in the strategy, and the key actions to deliver them. We would really welcome more resident involvement in this phase of the work, so please contact us if you want to get involved - and help us make a difference...
